Perfectly Me Built on Purpose · Still Building

The self-assessment

Which stage are you in?

The work is worth it.

Five questions. It tells you which of the six stages you are standing in right now — the Cave, the Fire, the Wilderness, the Battle, the Kingdom, or the Legacy — and, more usefully, which ones you are standing in at once.

Answer for the last three months. Not your whole life. Not the season you hope is coming. For each question, mark every answer that is true right now — most builders are standing in more than one stage at a time, and that is not a mistake in you. It is how the road is built.

This is not a personality test.

It does not describe who you are. It describes where you are standing — and it expires. That is the point.

Before you start

  • Answer honestly, not impressively. Nobody is grading this.
  • There is no advanced stage. The stages are locations, not levels. Legacy is not a graduation and the Cave is not a demotion.
  • You will loop. David went Kingdom, then Wilderness, then Battle, and back again. The looping is the design.

Where this goes

Your answers and your reading are saved — so this can show you what moved when you take it again in three months, and so I can see what the assessment is actually telling people. I read them. Nothing is shared, nothing is sold, and nothing is published. Not as a story with the name taken out. Not anywhere.

Where you are standing

Your six scores · 0 to 5 each

How to read the numbers

  • 4 or 5 — you are standing in this stage. Primary.
  • 3 — you are in it. Not at the center of it, but in it.
  • 2 — it is touching you. You have just left it, or you are moving in.
  • 0 or 1 — not this stage right now. It will be, eventually.

The numbers are a language aid, nothing more. They are not a score on you.

Write this down · date it

A page you filled in six months ago is evidence. A page you thought about filling in is nothing. Take this again in three months and compare — the movement between two readings is the actual data.

Want the longer read?

Your stage and your pair are yours, free, above — nothing is held back. The longer read goes further: it asks you a few questions about your actual situation, then writes the reading for your position rather than for the stage in general.

It takes about two minutes.

One honest note about this assessment

It cannot tell you anything God has not already been telling you. What it can do is give you language for it, put you in company with someone who stood exactly there, and stop you from reading an ordinary Wilderness as evidence that you failed.

It is not a diagnosis, not a prophecy, and not a measure of your faithfulness.

A few questions about your actual situation

The five questions told us where you are standing. These tell us what it is actually like there — and they are the difference between a reading about the Wilderness and a reading about yours. Skip anything you would rather not answer.

Writing your reading

Reading your answers against the six stages…

This takes twenty or thirty seconds. It is being written for your combination and your answers, not pulled off a shelf — so it is worth the wait.

One honest note

This is not a diagnosis, not a prophecy, and not a measure of your faithfulness. There is no advanced stage and no verdict in any of it. It expires — take it again in three months and see what moved.
